Here in northern rockies i have one 2 years old fern bush which is 3 feet tall planted in full sun in rocky well drained soils. Its thrived its last 2 seasons and again this spring april thu may 30th. Button fern pellaea rotundifolia is another easy to grow beauty.

For evergreen ferns choose from the autumn radiance autumn brilliance tassel japanese holly and christmas. The white in the leaves gives this small evergreen shrub an overall bright appearance which might account for its cheerful name. Growing requirements are similar to lithops keep this succulent in a well lit spot better if it can receive a few hours of direct sunlight as well.

Native to new zealand it adapts well to average home conditions. Ideal for a shaded alpine trough or rockery. This spring we deep watered it during a sunny warm period but then weather turned cool and wet again for 2 weeks.
