In early to midsummer and again in early fall bunches of bright pink. New leaves start bronze in spring and turn yellow with a light pink edging in summer.

Flowers on new wood so prune in late winter to early spring if needed. Remove 50 to 75 of the top of the shrub maintaining a mounded form. Not all bushes respond well to the drastic operation of rejuvenation pruning but spirea is one that does.In the fall they turn an attractive coppery orange. 3 to 4 feet tall wide. It tolerates a wide range of soils and is easy to grow.
Goldflame is noted for having good heat tolerance. This spirea should be pruned in late winter to early spring. Spirea spirea spp is a garden staple like baguettes on a french dining table or shakespeare on your bookshelf.
Plants will also spread in the garden by suckering. Prune it in late winter or early spring to rejuvenate an old gold mound spirea. It has no serious insect or disease problems and goldflame is easily grown in average medium wet well drained soil in full sun to part shade.
Although the plant is not a heavy feeder it doesn t hurt to amend the soil with compost. Prune these shrubs in early spring before they leaf out. Excellent for brightening shrub borders.
